It’s been almost a year since I left the system and entered the Internet industry. My salary tripled and my hair almost fell out (haha).
I would like to share with you my understanding of the Internet industry, my own transformation and growth over the past year, and hope to give you a clear path in confusion.
A glimpse of the future, let me go from the construction industry to the Internet
In May 2017, I officially planned to switch to the Internet, just because I could see the future at a glance.
After graduating in 2016, I entered a state-owned enterprise that ranked first in the construction industry. Since then, I have faced reinforced concrete. At that time, in a remote town far away from the city, my only thought was to go to the city to have a look. .
Like many young people who just went to the construction site, I was full of passion and dreams at the beginning. I hope that one day in the future, I will become a builder of the entire city. However, the cruel reality is : I don't belong to the city I built with my own hands.
Far away from the city and the news is blocked, there are only a group of big men and a large number of migrant workers who are running Latest Mailing Database around for a living. What is even more frightening is that with the downturn in the housing construction industry, construction companies have weak profits and often operate at a loss. In the future, with the advancement of China's urbanization, within 10 years, the bustling scene of the entire construction industry will be replaced. At that time, when people reach middle age, where should they go?
Sometimes standing on the roof, looking at this busy city, I often think: What is the meaning of my life?
If you stay here, no one will say you are a warrior; if you leave, no one will say you are a deserter.
The contradiction between reality and ideal made me start looking for a way out. Fortunately, a senior civil engineer shared his journey from civil engineering to the Internet and then becoming a freelancer. Although I don't talk about the legendary experience, it greatly inspired me, who was suffering at that time. After a detailed understanding, I started my own career change.
resignation to study
I'm not a smart person, it took me 3 months to go from zero foundation to successful career change.
The experience of changing careers made me understand a truth: when you really put 100% of your experience to do something, even if it is not an ideal result, it will not be too bad.
When planning to change careers, don’t think about what to do if you fail, and be prepared to take root in this industry for a long time.
Breaking the cauldron and sinking the boat, the hundred and two Qin Passes belong to Chu in the end. Don't leave yourself a retreat, find a direction to all in, and you will definitely succeed.
Growth is the constant evolution in the field that you are good at
When I was about to start my career, a senior gave me this piece of advice: Entry is not the end, but the beginning.
Later, I found out that this is indeed the case: the Internet is an industry that requires continuous self-evolution and lifelong learning. The cycle of knowledge update and iteration is too fast. As a practitioner, only continuous learning can keep up with the development of the times.
Therefore, anxiety coexists with a sense of achievement. Maybe a gameplay or routine will fail tomorrow, and a product will die tomorrow if it is alive today.
If you switch to the Internet for the so-called workplace security, this is not for you - this is an industry that lacks security, and the only security is: you have a capability that can be reused continuously, even if the product dies , the same can be used elsewhere.
That is to say: "You must quickly establish your own core competitiveness in the workplace - barriers to human resources, professional skills, and underlying logic."
